Abraham Maslow proclaimed some 40 years ago that people are happiest when working towards challenging but just-reachable goals. Such is the philosophy adopted by Alise Cortez, career/professional development consultant. She also adds that in today’s mega-byte fast times, people sometimes need periodic moments of inspiration and a guiding hand to keep themselves on a track to realize their potential, be their very best, and enjoy the fruits of their labor in creative and satisfying ways. Since work consumes so much of our lives and can be a source of dismal disappointment or profound fulfillment, she founded Stimulus to help ignite the desired development of individual professionals. She also consults with corporate clients to design effective programs to allow their employees to blossom as individuals, which contributes to greater productivity and retention. Ms. Cortez has continually built upon her expertise, progressing through consultative sales roles, corporate recruiting, and providing career development services to form a diverse foundation from which to serve her clients. Having been a high producing sales consultant for several years, she understands how paramount productive results are to any activity engaged in by employees. But without proper motivation and interest, such results are not possible. US born and raised, Alise has lived in Spain and Brazil. Conversational in Spanish and Portuguese, she is both culturally savvy and appreciative of diversity. She is known for her ability to develop trust-based relationships with diverse personalities and cultural backgrounds. Ms. Cortez is well aware of the work-life balance so many professionals struggle for today as she is married, has a young child, runs her own business, and has been a full-time student throughout much of her career. Such life experience complements her ability to empathize with clients and help them find ways to make the most of what is available to them while charting new possibilities. Alise earned a PhD in Human Development with the Fielding Graduate Institute, a premier school for organizational development consultants. Her doctoral dissertation explored how high-performing executives conceptualize their work and the relationship between their work and their personal identity. The manner in which people derive satisfaction from their work, so that it contributes to creative productivity in their work and personal lives, is of great interest to Alise, and she plans to publish the results of her work. Previously, she earned a MA Liberal Studies with a focus on International Relations with South America, to develop her interest in working within the global marketplace. | |
